Wizuda are delighted to announce that we recently commissioned Amárach to conduct a national research project to capture, analyse and determine small and medium enterprises’ (SMEs) understanding and level of awareness of their obligations under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The results of this survey are now in and we will be releasing them to the public this week. With less than six months until GDPR comes into force, this research reveals some interesting statistics.
About the Research
While much research has been conducted to date on the GDPR, this research is unique due to its focus on IT decision makers within Irish SMEs.
This study focused on SMEs and targeted IT decision makers ranging from IT Directors, Heads of IT, CIOs and CISOs. This specific focus was chosen as IT have a key role to play in GDPR compliance. This research has found that 80% of IT decision makers believe they are a key stakeholder in their GDPR project. While SMEs make up 99.8% (CSO Ireland) of Irish businesses today, no research has been undertaken until now on how the GDPR will affect IT decision makers within SMEs.
This survey boasts a significant sample of businesses from a cross section of industries interviewed about the GDPR. 175 businesses spread across the Republic of Ireland participated in the survey.
